2023 Awards Season - E2: Best Drinks Experience

There was delight all round, at the latest episode of 2econd Friday’s Awards Season 2023.

Zoe and I were delighted to be staying at Waldorf Astoria again.  It was all the way back in April 2019 (Episode 25 of Season 1) we had last stayed.

We were also delighted to have Simon Papineau (yes, that Simon Papineau; the LinkedIn sensation) attend in the capacity of Very Special Guest.

And there was yet more delight when Corey Broughton, Food & Beverage Supervisor of Waldorf Astoria, accepted the prestigious award of Best Drinks Experience of 2econd Friday Season 1, on behalf of SkyBar. 

Season 1 has seen 2econd Friday stay, play, and, occasionally, sashay at 60 different Las Vegas resorts.  Ooof, I’m going to reckon not many of SkyBar’s, or Waldorf Astoria’s customers are in this exciting position of such Las Vegas experience.  60 different Las Vegas resorts.  60.  Please add exclamation marks at will, as you read that.

SkyBar had beat (from the short-list) Alle Lounge on 66 (at Resorts World), and Rosina Cocktail Lounge (at Palazzo). 

It was Erik Christenson who first propositioned the notion (hmm, that sounds very fancy, but I’m not sure if it’s quite correct, but heck, I’ll leave it) that SkyBar affords one of the finest views in all of Las Vegas.  Well, he was the first to mention it to me, at least.  He’s right, though, surely?

Beyond the view, there’s the cocktail menu.  Zoe and I love Las Vegas.  And what are SkyBar’s specialty cocktail’s named after?  Yip, Las Vegas stuff.  There’s a Boulder Dam, a Stardust, a Golden Knight, and beyond.

Corey seemed pretty delighted with the award, and said his boss would be, too.

Hooray, delight all round, indeed.

After all the delight of SkyBar, we had a fantastic meal in our suite.  Seth, and Alejandro provided fantastic customer service.  Did someone say customer service?  Stays like we had this weekend just increases our excitement for 2024, and Season 2 of 2econd Friday, which will revisit six resorts, in the search for the best customer service in Las Vegas.  Who have we currently got on the list?

  • Tower Suites at Encore

Before then, though, our next award from Season 1 is Best Show.  The short-list is:
